Boudoir

The best accessory a woman can own is confidence.

Boudoir Photography

Overview of a boudoir photography shoot:

Boudoir sounds luxurious and sexy and that’s because it is. It basically means a woman’s bedroom. It is intimate and beautiful portraits of women wearing lingerie or other clothing and can also incorporate tasteful nude photographs. These images can make a woman feel empowered by capturing her unique womanhood. It can be a great gift for her partner, or even just for herself. What I try to achieve is to make a woman look fabulous, feel confident, sexy and beautiful, no matter what her age, size or nationality through my boudoir photography. I try to make the boudoir photo shoots themselves lots of fun.

Make-Up & Hair

Before we get started with the shooting of your boudoir photography shoot, it is important that hair and make-up is done correctly and especially make-up for studio lighting.  Normal day-to-day make-up is quite different to what is required for studio lighting.  Our make-up artist is able to do make-up as well as hair. Preparation:

Hair & Make Up – For your boudoir photo shoot, make up in front of the camera is also different to every day make up and might need to be re-applied, or extra added.  We do have professional make-up artists who understands studio lighting.  They are able to do hair and make-up.  But you may also be comfortable with your own hair stylist so it could be a good idea to have your hair done by your stylist.  Although our make-up artist has her own make-up, you may also bring some of you own favourite make-up along should you wish.  Our make up artist would need to be booked in advance as she only attends for pre-booked sessions.

Manicure/Pedicure – It is a good idea to have a manicure and pedicure before your boudoir photo shoot if possible.  Make sure nail vanish is neat and that there are no chipping’s.

Tanning – If you tan, try to minimize tan lines.  If possible, try to get a spray tan about three days prior to your photo shoot. That way, it will give time for your colour to settle and also for you to exfoliate any areas that have absorbed too much colour. Even if one is of a darker complexion, a spray tan can even out uneven marks and discolouration.

Shaving/Waxing – Make sure all shaving or waxing needed is done prior to the shoot. You don’t want to be in a sexy pose, only later to discover hairy armpits.

Wardrobe – Wardrobe is the key to a great boudoir session. Here is a list of suggestions,

  • Bra & panty sets
  • Lingerie
  • Nighties
  • See-through blouse
  • Evening gown
  • Evening dress
  • Small sexy dress
  • Jeans – half buttoned pair of jeans can look sexy
  • Your man’s shirt/his sports jersey – preferably one of his favourite shirts or T-shirts.  Even his tie.
  • Heels
  • Corsets, garter belts, stockings, fishnet stockings, etc
  • Jewellery – long string of pearls is good
  • Props – if there’s something you particularly enjoy, like karate – bring the top of your GI, or if you ride, a riding crop & hat, cowboy hat & boots, etc etc. This can be anything your imagination comes up with.

Please note: – Clothes should fit well. Bra’s should not cut or pinch chest, nor shoulders. Sometimes if clothes are too tight, they can cause bulges.

Nude/Partial nude photos – Nude or Partial nude photos are optional. These are very tastefully done. Often one can be totally nude, but areas covered with a prop, for example, a sheet, pillow, drapes or clothing, or even arms, etc.

Examples of boudoir photos – If there are any specific boudoir photos you like, you are very welcome to either share these with me on the day of your boudoir photo shoot, or you are welcome to e-mail any photos you might like. That can also give me an idea of what type of photos you would like. It’s quite natural for anyone to feel nervous at first, but as the photo-shoot progresses, we start having fun then we come up with all sorts of imaginative and fun ideas.

I look forward to doing your Boudoir photo shoot with you.
